esqueje 1. nombre masculino Tallo, rama o retoño de una planta que se injerta en otra o se introduce en la tierra para reproducir o multiplicar la planta.
Esqueje (cutting): Noun. A stem, branch or shoot from one plant that is grafted onto another or planted in the ground to reproduce or propagate the plant.
Esquejes was commissioned by the Centro de Experimentación y Producción de Música Contemporánea (Cepromusic). Its title refers to a cutting: a stem, branch or shoot taken from a plant and placed in soil or grafted onto another plant in order to reproduce it. The piece explores this idea of fragments that carry the potential for new growth. The music grows through this process of repetition, separation and regeneration, creating a form in which material continually branches out and takes on new life.
